Home owners coming onto the market have dropped their asking prices for the first time this year, according to Rightmove.
The property portal reported a 0.6% decline in the average new vendor’s ambitions in July, amounting to £1,435 in hard cash.

The average asking price for a home in the UK increased by 0.3% in June, compared with May, according to Rightmove.
However, the sixth consecutive monthly rise left prices falling in real terms, with the Retail Prices Index showing an annual increase of 5.1% in June, compared with a year-on-year rise in asking prices of 5%.

UK Google Maps users can now search for listings from estate agents and property websites directly from the maps.
Available properties are indicated by a small circle that provides a link to a particular agent’s website.

Rightmove has reported that the week before the General Election saw the highest number of new sellers entering the UK property market since June 2008.

House sellers increased the average asking price for a home by 2.6%, or £5,898, in the month to the 10th April, to £235,512.
